SafeSquid® is basically an HTTP/1.1 Proxy Server Software.
SafeSquid is however most popularly used because of it's vivid Content Filtering, Content Security and Access Control capabilities, as an Application Layer Firewall. You can install SafeSquid on a Linux or Microsoft® Windows based host to provide a secured web-gateway for a large number of users.
